In 2019, China's economy seemed stable, but encountered headwinds. According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics, China's real GDP growth in 2019 was 6.1%, 0.6 percentage point lower than the previous year. Economic growth showed a quarter-on-quarter downward trend, dropping to 6.0% in the third quarter of 2019, just within the 6.0 to 6.5% target range set by the government for the year.

The completion ceremony of the 6th Dong-A Economy Leader’s Academy (DELA), a leadership course developed by South Korea’s The Dong-A Ilbo, was held at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) in Shenzhen on April 27. CKGSB has been operating the program with the media for six consecutive years since 2013. The professors including Assistant Dean Zhou Li attended the ceremony, and the program participants received the completion certificates. Participants had attended seminars by the faculty and visited corporations in Shenzhen during their stay. Assistant Dean Zhou Li remarked that Chinese corporations’ innovation model began from founders born in 1960s and 70s, which has now been passed down to new leaders, who will spearhead China’s new growth model.
