Jakarta, Indonesia —— Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) officially launched the CKGSB Indonesia Alumni Association in Jakarta, marking a new step in strengthening business, investment, and educational ties between Indonesia and China. The launch took place during the Indonesia-China Business Forum, jointly hosted by CKGSB and its newly founded Indonesia Alumni Association, in the presence of CKGSB alumni, professors, government officials, and business leaders from both countries.
The association will provide a platform for alumni, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders from Indonesia and China to build relationships, exchange insights, and explore cross-border collaboration opportunities.

“China offers important lessons in large-scale manufacturing capability, innovative business models, and growing innovation capacity. Many emerging economies have historically accelerated development by adapting proven business models before building indigenous innovation capabilities.” said, Founding Dean of CKGSB, Xiang Bing.

Li Haitao, Dean of CKGSB, emphasized that the Indonesian alumni association is CKGSB’s first such alumni association in a developing country. He highlighted the growing influence of the Global South and the growing importance of markets like Indonesia, ASEAN, Africa, and the Middle East in shaping the next phase of growth. He also noted that CKGSB serves as China’s gateway for Chinese and global decision makers seeking continued growth.

Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun emphasized the growing importance of Indonesia–China cooperation amid today’s shifting geopolitical and geo-economic environment. He noted that stronger business and people-to-people connections will play an increasingly important role in supporting regional economic resilience and growth.

Dr. (H.C.) Ir. H. Maruarar Sirait, S.IP, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas of Indonesia, Ichsan Zulkarnain, Deputy Minister for Investment Planning at the Ministry of Investment of Indonesia as well as Dr. Ferry Juliantono, Minister of Cooperatives of Indonesia discussed opportunities for collaboration in green investment, industrial upgrading, renewable energy, and innovation that support Indonesia’s long-term development goals.
The launch comes at a time of expanding economic engagement between Indonesia and China, with growing opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, sustainability, and investment. The association aims to facilitate dialogue and partnerships that contribute to long-term economic development in both markets. Association representatives highlighted the role of alumni networks in building trusted cross-border partnerships and facilitating collaboration between Indonesian and Chinese businesses.
