On May 20th, CKGSB hosted members of The Economist Group in its Beijing campus, including CEO Chris Stibbs. In addition to a school tour and exclusive interview between Mr. Stibbs and CKGSB Knowledge, Founding Dean Xiang Bing and Mr. Stibbs shared their views on global business, continuing education and opportunities for further collaboration.

On May 9th, CKGSB Dean Xiang Bing visited Indianapolis, Indiana, to hold discussions with key members of its business community and State representatives.

On April 28th, 43 EMBA students and faculty from Mexico’s IPADE Business School visited CKGSB’s Beijing Campus for a 1-day program to learn more about doing business in China and strengthening a mutual understanding of China and Mexico. CKGSB Dean Xiang Bing and Professor Teng Bingsheng served as lecturers during the day-long event.

2014-04-18 – On April 7-9, 2014, AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) held its annual International Conference and Annual Meeting (ICAM), the organization’s largest and most anticipated event of the year. Gathering professionals from the top business schools worldwide, ICAM introduced and explored industry topics through new and thought-provoking perspectives. CKGSB Founding Dean Xiang Bing attended the event and spoke about CKGSB’s innovative approach to education.

After witnessing several years of supercharged growth, China has seen its gradual deceleration in 2013. At the same time, Japan has struggled with jumpstarting its stagnant economy in recent years. While both countries have passed a number of reforms aimed at bolstering growth to attractive and sustainable levels, it is clear that for individual businesses, opportunities lie in fast-growing markets and sectors. How should companies position themselves, both strategically and geographically, to most effectively leverage such pockets of opportunity?

The CKGSB MBA program will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, November 23, at the Ancestral Temple in Beijing. Bringing together CKGSB MBA alumni and business leaders from across China, the celebration will applaud the achievements of the past decade and look forward to tomorrow’s success with a special anniversary forum featuring guest speakers from the forefront of Chinese business and education. 

CKGSB has won three awards that highlight its outstanding contributions to philanthropy in China. Professors Yan Aimin and Juliet Zhu were named China CSR Person of the Year and China Philanthropist of the Year, respectively, while CKGSB was given the China Philanthropic Enterprise of the Year award. All honors were handed out at the annual award ceremony of the China Philanthropy Times, a well-respected philanthropic journal, published under China’s Ministry of Public Affairs.

The Chinese dream and the American dream: Common perspectives, consumer expectations and economic outlook.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2013, CKGSB will bring together high-level business leaders and philanthropists from China and the United States at an exclusive forum with United Way Worldwide, the world's largest privately funded nonprofit. The event provides a rare opportunity for business executives and NGO leaders from the two countries to share their experiences on philanthropy and deliberate on how businesses and individuals can contribute to social good in the economic context of both nations.

“While women continue to outpace men in educational achievement, we have ceased making real progress at the top of any industry. This means that when it comes to making the decisions that most affect our world, women’s voices are not heard equally.   A truly equal world would be one where women ran half our countries and companies and men ran half our homes.”

Dr Xiang Bing, Founding Dean of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and Professor of China Business and Globalization, delivered a keynote speech at the prestigious FT Banking Summit on November 30 in London, among global financial and business leaders, such as Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and FT’s Chief Economics Commentator Martin Wolf. 

Throughout its 15-year history, CKGSB has pioneered innovation in business education, by building a global platform, recruiting the best faculty from leading global institutions such as Harvard, Wharton, Stanford and Yale, and continuing to produce some of the very best China insights through a variety of research, journal publications and teaching.

Long-term reasons for optimism about China’s economy remain, but the current challenges must be addressed. That was the conclusion of CKGSB’s 4th China Economic Symposium, held in Beijing, just one day ahead of the school’s official 15th anniversary. The event drew 300 senior executives and economists in person, with close to 600,000 unique viewers watching online via five different live-streaming platforms.

In the past five years, the city of Hefei realized 4100 billion RMB in GDP, with an average annual growth of 16%, becoming the fastest growing provincial capital in China. The 2013 CKGSB Management forum will explore the Innovative and strategic growth in the region.

On April 8, CKGSB Founding Dean XIANG BING will moderate a closed-door dialogue between prominent CEOs and the governors and mayors of several Chinese provinces. This invitation-only event is hosted and supported by CKGSB. The topics to be discussed include  the investment policies and needs of local governments, and the expectations of the business community.

A stellar line-up of experts in US-China relations, including Ambassador Stapleton Roy, the former US envoy to China; Hank Greenburg, who was instrumental in opening up the financial sector in China; and Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, who played a central role in the negotiations for China to enter the WTO in 2001 headlined the sold-out symposium, “Understanding China Today”, which was co-hosted by CKGSB, Princeton University’s Center on Contemporary China and The Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance.

China is the world’s second largest economy, a startling transformation accomplished in the span of a generation, starting from the late 1970s when it was largely a closed society.

Having delivered a keynote speech at the recent Alumni event in Vancouver, BC, which focused on the implications of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative, CKGSB Founding Dean Xiang Bing featured in an article by Business in Vancouver, in which he stressed that companies from around the world – not just those from China – have been given the green light to get involved.

Mun-Soo Kim, CEO of SMATOOS has shared his learning experiences of CKGSB’s Korean EMBA program and introduced his business experience. As the pioneer and also leader in the education felid, he wants to broaden his business in global and Chinese market. He mentioned that practical and quality classes and case studies from CKGSB have helped him when he expanded business to China. Not surprisingly, as the entrepreneur in the education area, he says he is very happy when he learns and thinks how to help people learn more easily and fun.
