Business Leaders and Philanthropists from China and the US Share Best Practices and Discuss the Future of Philanthropy

Beijing, September 11, 2013 – Yesterday, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), together with China CITIC Press and Thinker Future Media, co-hosted an event with Chief Operating Officer of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg to discuss women in leadership, how women can realize their professional and personal goals and the impact they can have on businesses both in China and globally. Sandberg also promoted the Chinese release of her best-selling book, “Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead” at the event.

CKGSB Dean Xiang Bing and Professor Cho Dong-Sung, respectively moderated a session and gave a keynote address at the APEC China CEO Forum 2013.

In a recent interview in Focus Magazine, published by the China-Britain Business Council, CKGSB Founding Dean Xiang Bing discussed the rise of the private business sector in China, its achievements and strengths, and the weaknesses and challenges the private business sector will face in the coming years.

Today, Japan is China’s largest source of imports, while China has become Japan’s largest export destination and import source. In such context, cooperation and exchange between the two countries become crucial to their respective economic vitality and prospects. On July 11, CKGSB Founding Dean Xiang Bing joined Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev as a speaker at the plenary session of Innoprom, where they discussed global strategies for major industrial players in the Russian economy. This is an “opportunity for the exchange of advanced technological and managerial ideas and cooperation between foreign and domestic producers,” said Mr. Medvedev when explaining the importance of this platform.

Since 1981, the Tällberg Forum, hosted by the Tällberg Foundation, has become one of the most innovative forums for global leaders. Business leaders, scientists and artists from around the world, such as former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Ikea CEO Anders Dahlvig, have gathered together on the Tällberg Forum stage.

On July 5, 2013, CKGSB will host an important roundtable discussion between Chinese and Japanese C-suite business executives. A unique and rare opportunity for leaders from the two countries to communicate and share best practices, the discussions will touch on new strategies, trends and models in the globalization of businesses, and in creating shared value.

Dean Xiang Bing recently conducted an interview with Jinseo Cho for the Dong-A Business Review, Korea’s influential business magazine for C-level executives and business leaders. The interview was held on March 26, 2013 prior to his speech at the fourth Asian Leadership Conference on March 27.

On April 11, 2013, CKGSB Founding Dean Xiang Bing gave a one hour speech to over 200 Japanese executives invited by the Canon Institute of Global Studies, in Tokyo, Japan. Dean Xiang’s theme was “China’s Transformation and Its Global Implications.” He provided many insights into the Chinese economy, including why China is the most capitalistic country in the world and how China can still learn a great deal from Japan.

Dean Xiang also sheds light on how business education is now focusing on executives’ entire wealth equation—from why you do business to how you do business, and what to do with the money you have.

Dean Xiang Bing of CKGSB gave a speech at the 4th Asian Leadership Conference on March 27, held in Seoul, South Korea. Hosted by Chosun Media, the Asian Leadership Conference is a renowned gathering of leaders from business, government and education.

The Founding Dean of the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, XIANG Bing, will attend this year's Boao Forum and moderate a private dialogue between CEOs and the governors of several Chinese provinces.
