Jelena Dong
Doctoral Candidate of Public Health, Penn State University
COO, Gleebill Global Solution

Jelena Dong is a doctoral candidate of Public Health at Penn State University, focusing on aging epidemiology and biostatistics. Currently, she is working at Dr. Richie’s aging science lab as a research associate to investigate the association between total sulfur amino acids and human health. Her research goal has been to understand the link between the biological aging process and the development of aging-related diseases and disorders including cancer. Using an interdisciplinary research approach, her focus is on the role of oxidative stress, generated both endogenously and from environmental exposures, as a mechanism for enhanced susceptibility during aging. Her research also investigates the impact of both endogenous and dietary antioxidants in protection against oxidative stress and its resulting damage, with the ultimate goal of designing and developing targeted prevention strategies. Jelena received her Master’s of Public Health following her bachelor’s degrees in health promotion and marketing from the University of Iowa. She is also a proud member of the American Public Health Association.

While she has a long-term goal of benefiting humankind and contributing positively toward the health of our community and society at large, she is also the COO at Gleebill Global Solution, a financial technology start-up company in New York. She is in charge of the company’s operations and logistics in the US. Gleebill is founded and supported by a successful Chinese financial technology company, and its global reach includes the US, Japan and Europe. Having years of experiences in the US, Jelena took the responsibilities of helping the development of Gleebill. With her bachelor degrees in both health promotion and marketing, she is equipped with skills including quantitative research, statistical analysis, logical interpretation and computer literacy. She has helped this China-based company build a solid foundation in the US.

Martine Kalaw
Senior Director of Learning and Development, Wheels Up
Founder, Martine Kalaw Enterprises, LLC

Martine Kalaw is Senior Director of Learning and Development at Wheels Up, a membership-based private aviation company. She oversees company-wide education initiatives. Martine received a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College where she majored in World Politics and a Master of Public Administration with a Certificate of Legal Studies at the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.

She is a community advocate, speaker, writer and Huffington Post blogger on her coming of age story as an undocumented immigrant orphan in America. An incredible journey of going from a seven-year battle as an undocumented immigrant without a family, to a senior executive with an advanced degree, a father and US citizenship is the inspiration behind the mission to share her story. Martine’s intention is to highlight the absurdity of current immigration policy that marginalizes undocumented immigrants, and to demystify and challenge stereotypes about what a strong woman looks like, who the illegal immigrant is, what it means to be American and the African experience.

Martine has been a featured speaker on immigration reform at various forums and rallies. Her story has also appeared in editorials in newspapers, and publications such as USA Today, Metro New York and The New York Sun. She is the sole proprietor of Martine Kalaw Enterprises, LLC which is a company that promotes contemporary African art sales, motivational speaking, published books and training.

Martine was born in Zambia, Africa, but lived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) until the age 4, when she immigrated to the United States. Since her recent journey to Zambia in November 2014, she is proud to call both the US and her native Africa “home.” As a recent US passport holder, Martine’s newfound passion is travelling globally and being a citizen of the world.
