Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) has earned LEED Platinum certification, the highest level in the LEED green building rating system, for the interior fit-out of its Beijing campus under LEED for Interior Design and Construction (ID+C).

The certification recognizes the campus’s approach to sustainable design and construction, encompassing water efficiency, energy use, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. It also reflects CKGSB’s commitment to creating a campus that puts the health and comfort of students, faculty and staff at the heart of the learning and working environment.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—is a widely used green building rating system with projects across 180+ countries and regions. It evaluates projects across a range of sustainability measures and awards four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

At CKGSB’s Beijing campus, sustainability informed decisions from the earliest stages of design through construction, shaping everything from material selection to the systems that manage air quality, lighting and resource use.
Low-emitting interior materials help reduce pollutants at their source, while a fresh-air ventilation system with high-efficiency filtration supports indoor air quality. Real-time carbon dioxide monitoring is linked to ventilation controls to respond to changing conditions in classrooms and offices.

The lighting design makes full use of natural daylight, complemented by sensor-controlled LED lighting and glare control to balance visual comfort with energy efficiency. Zoned temperature and humidity controls accommodate the needs of different spaces, while sound-absorbing acoustic treatments help reduce noise and support focused teaching, discussion and research.
Water-saving fixtures and energy-efficient equipment further integrate resource conservation into daily campus operations. Together, these features translate sustainable design principles into practical benefits for the people who study and work there.

The LEED Platinum certification marks a milestone in the development of CKGSB’s Beijing campus. By embedding sustainability in the spaces used for teaching, research and exchange, the school is putting its people-centered campus philosophy into practice.
