CKGSB Convenes Founders and Investors for Workshop on Economic Disruption and Next-Generation Unicorns in Tokyo

On October 9, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) hosted a successful workshop, titled “Global Economic Disruption & Fostering Next-Generation Unicorns,” in Tokyo. The event convened 46 entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, journalists from Japan to explore the complexities of today’s rapidly changing economic landscape.

Led by Dr. Bing Xiang, Founding Dean of CKGSB, the workshop featured an in-depth discussion on the implications of global economic disruptions and the vital role of unicorn companies in driving innovation. Attendees gained valuable insight into how entrepreneurs can effectively leverage startup ecosystems to scale their businesses.

Dr. Xiang highlighted the significant transformations in global economics and how they are shaping the future of entrepreneurship.

“In this era of uncertainty, understanding the dynamics of economic disruption is crucial for business leaders,” he stated.

CKGSB is the first business school, since 2015, to offer programs specifically designed for unicorn and soon-to-be-unicorn founders. To date, the school has educated over 1,188 founders of companies with at least Series A funding, including the founders of 151 unicorn companies.

The Tokyo workshop provided not only a platform for knowledge exchange, but also an opportunity for networking among industry leaders in Japan. Participants enjoyed lunch and engaged in lively discussions, sharing their experiences and strategies for navigating the current economic challenges.

In collaboration with prestigious institutions such as Stanford, Columbia Engineering, ESCP, Berkeley, and Sydney University, CKGSB continues to innovate its program offering, focusing on critical areas such as AI, digital transformation, luxury and tech, and healthcare innovation.

The workshop concluded with a call to action for entrepreneurs to remain agile and proactive in the face of economic disruption, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and continuous learning in achieving sustainable growth.
