Understanding how unicorn companies reach success and how their lessons can be applied to other enterprises is particularly important for founders and decision-makers of start-ups and multinational companies alike, who are looking to build new revenue, bolster resilience, and find growth opportunities. Throughout this workshop, we will explore ways in which CKGSB can help you tap into or become a next generation unicorn.

CKGSB is the first business school globally since 2015 to offer programs designed for unicorn and soon-to-be-unicorn founders. In collaboration with esteemed institutions such as Columbia Engineering, ESCP, UC San Diego,Stanford, SDA Bocconi and others, we are spearheading initiatives in AI, digital transformation, sustainability, healthcare and technology innovation, to offer founders of companies with at least Series A funding the knowledge, network and strategies that they need to scale up.

XIANG Bing

Dr. Xiang Bing is the Founding Dean and Dean’s Distinguished Chair Professor of China Business and Globalization at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). Under his leadership, CKGSB has evolved from a fledgling school to one of the most influential business schools in China with a global reputation since its establishment in November 2002.

Renowned as a foremost authority on China’s business and economy, Dr. Xiang has delivered  keynote speeches at prestigious forums/ conferences including: ​​Harvard College China Forum​​ as closing keynote (2017), the first opening keynote (2018, 2023), opening keynote (2019), and the first closing keynote (2024); ​​Penn Wharton China Summit​​ as the first opening keynote (2023), the first closing keynote (2024), and the only closing keynote (2025); ​​Columbia China Forum​​ as the only closing keynote (2024); Indonesia Economic Summit as one of the four keynotes in the opening ceremony (2025); ​​​​SCMP China Conference on US-China Relations​​ in New York City as the only closing keynote (2019). In 2018, he was a lunch keynote speaker for the Foreign Policy Association’s Board of Trustees (FPA) in New York City and presented a lunch keynote at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C.. Dr. Xiang was invited to attend the Ditchley Foundation Annual Forum in 2010, 2012, 2018 and 2021 and served as the First Co-Chairman in 2018. Dr. Xiang was also invited to participate in the Rome Roundtable during 2017 – 2020, in 2022 and in 2024.

Dr. Xiang has served as an independent board member to several listed companies, including four Fortune Global 500 companies. He was a member of the Global Board of Trustees for United Way Worldwide (US) during 2011-2017. He is now a member of the Advisory Board for Asia House in London and a Counselor for One Young World Summit in Dublin. He is also serving as a member of the Advisory Board for multiple scholarly societies, including Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC) in Brazil, Yonsei School of Business in Korea, the Royal Academy of Management (RAM) in Oman, the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Macau, the Business School of SciTech of University of Science and Technology of China, and the Business School of Southern University of Science and Technology in China, etc.

Dr. Xiang’s research interests include economic disruption, business in China, global implications of China’s economic transformation, China’s development models, innovation and globalization by Chinese companies, reform of SOEs, Chin-U.S. Relations, and global trade and investment systems and global governance, etc.

Hau L. LEE

Thoma Professor of Operations, Information and Technology, Stanford Graduate School of Business

Hau L. Lee is the Thoma Professor of Operations, Information and Technology at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His areas of specialization include global value chain innovations, supply chain management, global logistics, inventory modeling, and environmental and social responsibility. He is also the faculty advisor for the Stanford Institute for Innovations in Developing Economies, and is a co-director of the Stanford Value Chain Innovation Initiative. Professor Lee has published widely in journals, such as Management Science, Operations Research, Harvard Business Review and Sloan Management Review, and served on the editorial boards of many international journals.

Professor Lee has consulted extensively in the public and private sectors. He is a co-founder of DemandTec, which went public in 2007. He is on the board and advisory board of several logistics services and supply chain software companies. Professor Lee obtained his B.Soc.Sc. degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Hong Kong in 1974, his M.Sc. degree in Operational Research from the London School of Economics in 1975, and his MS and PhD degrees in Operations Research from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.

Alan CHEN

Assistant Dean of Global Programs, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB)

Alan Chen is an accomplished education professional with extensive experience in program management, business development, and executive education. He currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Global Programs at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, where he provides strategic direction for the global program portfolio and leads the corporate solutions team across the three overseas offices in London, New York, and Hong Kong. In addition, he is leading the establishment of a new campus in the UAE.

Previously, Alan served as the Executive Director of Wharton San Francisco, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the campus facilities with oversight of its IT, HR, Operations and Finance groups. He also supported the Vice Dean on Asia initiatives and engaged the alumni community in the Bay Area. Before Wharton San Francisco, Alan served as the Senior Director of Business Development for Wharton Executive Education, where he led business development for individual and customized corporate training programs.

Alan’s previous experience includes serving as the Director of MBA Program for CKGSB (Beijing) and Director of CKGSB Americas. Alan started his career in Executive Education as the Associate Director of Client Relations at Columbia Business School.

Alan holds a BA degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California (USC), an MS in Negotiations and Conflict Resolutions from Columbia University, and a Global EMBA offered jointly by Columbia Business School (CBS), London Business School (LBS), and Hong Kong University Business School (HKU). He most recently completed his Doctoral of Education from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania.

Outside of work, Alan is actively involved in the community. He interviews prospective undergraduate students for Columbia University and is also involved in search and rescue operations for the Civil Air Patrol – US Air Force Auxiliary Emergency Services.

JI Bo

Chief Representative for CKGSB Europe, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB)

Bo Ji is the Founder of China Start, an inspiring TEDx speaker, a China expert, an advocate of EU-China trade, Author of “5G Changes the World” , and Co-Founder of “Impact 17+1” Club.

Bo is currently the Assistant Dean of Global Executive Education & Chief Representative for Europe at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), a top business school with more than 18,000 chairman/CEO level alumni. Bo had an over-25-year successful business career in Global Business Development, Innovation, Strategy, Supply Chain Management, M&A, etc. He served as the senior executive at the headquarters of many fortune 500 companies such as Monsanto, Cargill, Pfizer, Wrigley and Mars. After a long corporate life, Bo became a serial entrepreneur and investor. Bo founded the “China Start” to bring global startups and scaleups to China. He created a paradigm shift for global startups to expand to China instead of Silicon Valley.

Combining his extensive business experiences and in-depth knowledge, Bo taught EMBA/MBA from some of the world’s most prestigious business schools such as INSEAD, Esade, MIT, New York University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Technology University of Munich, Tsinghua University, CKGSB, Zhejiang University, Sun Yet-Sen University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Taiwan’s National Chengchi University etc.

Bo is a well sought inspiring speaker at renowned international conferences, forums, TV media and annual corporate meetings.
