Over 30 MBA alumni took spring refresher courses at CKGSB’s Shanghai campus on Sunday, April 14th, 2013, to learn about the latest in marketing theory and practice.
Two marketing lectures lasting for four classroom sessions were presented by Professor XIAO Ying and Professor LI Yang. Professor XIAO discussed the opportunities and challenges faced by brands utilizing multi-channel marketing approaches. Professor LI talked about how to intelligently collect customer data and make business sense of them.
“Refresher courses help us maintain the knowledge and skills we’ve learned during MBA study at CKGSB,” said Davy Han, ’09 CKGSB MBA student and now Vice President of Shanghai Ushu Network Technology Co., Ltd., who returned to campus for the spring marketing module.
CKGSB began offering free courses for alumni in fall 2013. So far, roughly 15% of the school’s MBA alumni have attended lectures by key faculty on interesting and timely topics. “As part of our service, we invited MBA alumni back to school to acquire up-to-date business knowledge, as well as reinvigorate and expand their alumni network, ” said Pauline Deng, senior marketing manager of the CKGSB MBA program. To overcome geographic difficulties, since many former students are no longer based in Beijing, refresher courses are taught in major cities across China.
Besides refresher courses, CKGSB offers alumni other options to leverage CKGSB resources after graduation and forge stronger connections with each other. For example, back-to-school days welcome alumni to return to campus and enjoy a fun-filled day together with professors, current students, and old classmates. Career-wise, MBA alumni are also eligible for the on-going support of the MBA Career Management Centre.
