Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) Founding Dean and Professor of China Business and Globalization, Xiang Bing was awarded the ‘Vanguard for Social Responsibilities’ by Southern Weekly at its 12th Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Conference on July 31, 2020. The award acknowledges people who are committed to social responsibility and public welfare.
As the founding Dean of a top Chinese business school, Dean Xiang Bing’s mission is to educate future business leaders to have a global vision, a humanistic spirit, a strong sense of social responsibility and an innovative mind-set through incorporating humanities into business management and initiating mandatory philanthropy modules in the school’s curriculum.
“Social innovation has been part of our DNA since the foundation of CKGSB.” said Dean Xiang in his speech when accepting the award. “We hope to contribute to the growth of a new-generation of business disruptors who are economically, socially and environmentally responsible, while embracing technologic innovation. We encourage CKGSB students to integrate social innovation with their business in order to address societal challenges.”
Since its foundation, CKGSB has always explored business education while emphasizing social innovation. The Corporate Social Responsibility Annual Conference hosted by Southern Weekly has now been held for 12 years in a row, establishing itself as a renowned conference in China. It convenes renowned thought leaders from government, enterprises, civil societies and media to discuss and review CSR and social welfare and to present awards to social responsibilities role models. In the previous years, the ‘Vanguard for Social Responsibilities’ has been awarded to people such as Mr. Wang Zhenyao, President of China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI), Dean of the China Philanthropy Research Institute and Professor at Beijing Normal University, Mr. Xu Yongguang, Chairman of the Board of the Narada Foundation, and Dr. Qian Xiaojun, Assistant Dean and Professor of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University.
