CKGSB is proud to announce that our founding Dean and Professor of China Business and Globalization, Xiang Bing, will be speaking at this year’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum from June 16-18, 2016. This will be his third year speaking at one of Russia’s largest forums. Professor Bing will speak at ‘The Transformation of the Chinese Economic Model’ panel on June 17 and he will also speak at the ‘University in a Changing World’ panel on June 18.
The first panel will discuss the risks and opportunities China will face as it adjusts its investment-driven, export-oriented expansion to a lower-growth and more balanced consumer-driven model. They will discuss the implications this will have on business around the world, what kind of strategies will contribute a more sustainable development and how these changes impact the global economy. Professor Bing will be joined by Sitao Xu, Chief Economist of China and Partner at Deloitte; Oleg Deripaska, President of UC RUSAL; Ivan Glasenberg, CEO of Glencore; Andrei Klepach, Deputy Chairman, Chief Economist and Member of the Board at Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs; Denis Shulakov, First Vice-President, of Gazprombank; and Andy Xie, Independent Economist.
The ‘University in a Changing World’ panel on June 18 will discuss the responsibility of educators in producing students with skills in an overheated jobs market, how to teach culture of entrepreneurship and how universities become centers of change and development. Professor Bing will be joined by Andrei Volkov, Professor of Management at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO; Youngsuk Chi, Chairman of Elsevier B.V.; Koenraad Debackere, Managing Director of KU Leuven Research & Development; Eduard Galazhinskiy, Rector at the National Research Tomsk State University; Oleg Kharkhordin, Rector at The European University in St. Petersburg; Elena Shmeleva, Head at Talant and Success Foundation; Aylin Suntay, First Vice President of Gazprombank; Anatoly Torkunov, Rector at MGIMO University; Vladimir Iakushev, Governor of Tyumen Region; and Dmitriy Pumpyanskiy, Chairman of the Board of Directors atTube Metallurgical Company (TMK).
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an annual international conference dedicated to economic and business issues. Each year, over 7,000 international guests including political and business leaders, leading scientists, public figures, and members of the media, gather at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation to discuss the most pressing issues facing Russia and the world.
