What Lies Ahead for the VC Industry in China?

China’s venture investments and IPOs rebounded spectacularly in 2014. Several new Internet companies became giant players with market valuations worth billions of dollars. Will investments and valuations continue to heat up in 2015? Which business sectors look most promising? To what extent will China’s moderated growth affect startups? These are just some of the questions that will be tackled by industry expert Chuan Thor at a special event at CKGSB’s Beijing campus.

This event is brought by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China (FCCC) and supported by CKGSB’s MBA Finance and Investment Club.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Chuan Thor is a managing director for Highland Capital Partners, who has close to 20 years of experience as an early venture capitalist. At Highland, he focuses on TMT companies in China, and made Highland’s successful investment in NY-listed Qihoo 360. He continues to serve on the board after the company’s IPO in 2011. He divided his time between venture investments and Asia business development activities. Before joining Highland, he was a partner at JAFCO America Ventures, responsible for JAFCO’s venture investments on the east coast of the US. During this period, Chuan contributed to the growth and success of Pirus Networks (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Crescent Networks (acquired by Marconi) and edocs (acquired by Siebel). He holds a B.A. in commercial science and international marketing from Meiji University.
