About the speaker: Henri Arslanian, UBS Bank
Henri Arslanian assists Asian, European and U.S. hedge funds on legal, regulatory, onshore/offshore structuring, fund governance and tax matters as well as on the latest trends and investor requirements on hedge fund operational due diligence and capital raising.
Henri has extensive experience advising hedge funds on the regulatory and tax implications of trading Asian financial markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India and Australia as well as on the impact of U.S., European and offshore regulations on such hedge funds.
Henri is a qualified lawyer in both New York and Canada and, prior to joining UBS, worked as a lawyer in Canada and Hong Kong where he advised hedge funds, private equity funds, family offices and financial institutions.
Henri is a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the current Co-Chair of its Financial Services Committee. He also was the Chair of its China Business Committee from 2009 to 2012 as well as the President of the Quebec-Asia Law and Business Association from 2007 to 2008.
Fluent in English, French, Armenian, Spanish and conversational in Mandarin Chinese, Henri regularly speaks at industry events globally on the topic of financial markets and hedge fund regulatory changes in Asia and China. He is also a guest lecturer at the faculty of law of the University of Sherbrooke in Canada where he lectures a class on Chinese Law and was recently appointed as a member of the Regulatory Sub-Committee of AIMA, the global hedge fund industry trade association, in Hong Kong.
Henri holds a Masters in Chinese Law from Tsinghua University, a certificate of Chinese studies from Beijing University, a Bachelor of Law from the University of Montreal and a Masters in Common Law and Transnational Law from the University of Sherbrooke, where he was awarded the Governor General of Canada Gold Medal for Academic Excellence. He is currently pursuing a joint Global Executive MBA at Columbia Business School, London Business School and Hong Kong University.
