CKGSB MBA Class 2019 Officially Set Sail!

On October 10, the opening ceremony of CKGSB MBA has taken place on Beijing campus. Students of class 2019 come from 9 different countries, and today their brand new journey as MBA students officially began. Dr. Li Wei, Professor of Economics and Associate Dean of CKGSB MBA, Mr. Zhou Li, Assistant Dean of CKGSB MBA, Mr. Lu Fan, Founder and Chairman of Senscape, EMBA Alumnus of CKGSB and mentor of CKGSB MBA, as well as Zhao Xiaoying, Assistant Director of CKGSB MBA, attended the ceremony and delivered their speeches.

Setting Sail with Hope

At the opening ceremony, the guests delivered speeches respectively, offering salutations to the students of class 2019, and explaining their fervent expectations of the students.

Dr. Li Wei, professor of economics at CKGSB and Associate Dean of MBA Program, dissected the evolution of China’s export trade. He pointed out that China has achieved remarkable developmental results over the past few decades, asserting “Disruption is a key reason for China’s success. We are developing a new MBA Program to cultivate business leaders that will lead next-generation disruptions.”

Zhou Li, Assistant Dean of CKGSB, stated during the ceremony that he hopes the new students of MBA program will remember and practice three fundamental points, which are: “global vision”, “innovative mindset” and “humanistic care”. Dean Zhou stated to the students of class 2019, “You are students, but also stakeholders of our school, so we can jointly create something exciting, something new, and something meaningful, not only to ourselves, but also to society in general”.

Mr. Lu Fan, Founder and Chairman of Senscape, EMBA alumnus of CKGSB, and mentor of MBA students, welcomed the students, and congratulated the students for making a wise decision. He added: “You all have made an excellent decision that you chose CKGSB MBA, chose China. In the past 40 years, China has developed with the highest speed in the world. If you spend the following two years with CK’s world-class faculty finding out what China has done right, I think you will benefit a lot.”

Zhao Xiaoying, Assistant Director of CKGSB MBA program, hopes that the students will make full use of their time and school resources to fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

“During this 14-month program, I truly invite you to seize all the opportunities around you. Engage with our professors, alumni and leading executives you will meet. Build a strong network among your peers. Take the ownership of your study experience to sharpen your mind, skills and knowledge. Develop your strategy for success in the future development of your career, startups and family businesses,” Director Zhao advised.

After the speech, the guests presented school badges to each student, and the incoming class of 2019 officially set sail from there.

Gathering in CKGSB from Throughout the World

Among the new students, foreign students account for 25% of admissions, and students with overseas backgrounds account for 3/4 of the class.

This year’s new students hail from nine countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, and more. At the same time, in 2019, the program admitted new students from Iran and Ethiopia for the first time in its history.

Before entering the school, the neophyte students of 2019 came with an average working experience of 6.3 years. Their backgrounds consist of finance, information technology, energy, government, manufacturing, education, medical, and cultural and creative industries.

Before joining CKGSB, 64% of the 2019 class held bachelor’s degrees and 36% had master’s degrees. They graduated from Yale University, Oxford University, Imperial College London, University of Toronto, Hong Kong University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and other domestically and internationally renowned universities.
