Suning, the flagship mall of the 1990s, chose to carry out “disruptive innovation on itself” to turn from traditional retail business to internet-based retailer. Suning tested the waters in 2009, and chose a dual channel approach, which has now turned into an integrated open source platform. Every step taken by Suning has received significant attention from outside. What did Suning have to do to make this transformation? How was it implemented?
