CKGSB Students Win Desert Challenge Award

May 10, 2016

18 MBA & FMBA students from CKGSB were awarded the special SHAOU award after completing the grueling Asia-Pacific MBA Desert Challenge.

Students from CKGSB’s MBA program brought home the SHAOU Award after completing a 70-kilometer race during the three-day Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge. More than 70 MBA programs and 600 students from across the Asia-Pacific region took part. Team CKGSB had 18 participants, including 2 students from the FMBA program.

During the race, competitors faced a variety of injuries and grueling challenges. “One of our teammates pulled a hamstring on the first day of the race, but still ran 26 kilometers. Another teammate developed a high fever on the first night, but still continued the race. And our teammate Wilbur twisted his ankle, but still managed to complete the race. The race is both a mental and physical challenge,” said Yoyo Zhang, captain of the CKGSB MBA team.

The CKGSB team has competed in the race in each of the past four years. For the past two years, the team has brought home the SHAOU award, which is an award honoring groups that complete the challenge within a specified time.
