US-China Commerce Trajectories Under Trump

US-China Business Council (USCBC) President John Frisbie will share viewpoints from Washington, USCBC advocacy priorities and perspectives on the trajectory for US-China commercial relations under the Trump Administration, before engaging in a dialogue with Prof Liu Jing, finance professor at CKGSB, and a Q&A session with the audience.

US-China Business Council (USCBC) President John Frisbie, is in China to meet with senior Chinese government officials to discuss 100-day negotiations and priorities for the US business community. He will share the viewpoint from Washington DC, USCBC advocacy priorities, and perspectives on the trajectory for US-China commercial relations under the Trump Administration. His presentation will be followed by a short discussion with Prof Liu Jing, finance professor at CKGSB, and a Q&A session with the audience.

About the speakers
John Frisbie, president of the US-China Business Council (USCBC) since 2004, has close to 30 years of experience in business and government relations with China, including nearly 10 years living and working in Beijing. Frisbie started his career with the USCBC in 1986, first working in the Washington DC office and then as director of China operations in Beijing from 1988 to 1993. He joined General Electric in 1993 as director for Business Development in China for the company’s diverse set of businesses and then moved to Singapore to assume Asia-wide positions for two GE business units. Frisbie repatriated to the United States in 2000, joining the trade consulting practice established by former Secretary of Commerce Mickey Kantor at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP. Frisbie received his BA and MBA degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese. He, his wife, and their two children live in Bethesda, Maryland.

Liu Jing is Associate Dean and Professor of Accounting and Finance at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB).  Dr Liu formerly served as a tenured faculty member at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles.  He is an authority on capital markets, equity valuation, and securities analysis. Dr Liu’s research has been widely published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review and the Review of Accounting Studies.  His work has received the Outstanding Research Award from CKGSB, Eric E. Juline Research Award from the UCLA Anderson School and the Barclays Global Investors (BGI) Best Paper Award from the Review of Accounting Studies. A member of the editorial board for the Review of Accounting Studies, Dr Liu is also a director at several Chinese companies and an advisor for a number of financial institutions. Dr Liu earned his PhD from Columbia University.
