China Start program is a 5-day immersion program, taking place in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing, for global start-ups and growth companies to learn, network and pitch. The programme’s purpose is to develop the connection between Europe’s best entrepreneurs and CKGSB’s prestigious and influential alumni and business network.


Our China Start programme provides excellent opportunities for entrepreneurs to capture the lucrative Chinese market and secure substantial funding from Chinese top-tier investors and private angels. In addition, it helps western entrepreneurs to develop partnerships and provides opportunities for direct contact and networking with investors and commercial partners.


China Start allows participants to visit successful businesses, including China’s Silicon Valley in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing. Participants will meet with Baidu, Tencent and Fosun Group and have multiple pitch opportunities to 100+ investors, including Silicon Valley Bank, Sequoia Capital, Fosun Group, Citic Group and more!


Combining CKGSB’s top-notch faculty’s original insights with their prestigious alumni network, participants will gain fascinating expert knowledge about China entry strategies and consumer insight, as well as build and strengthen relations with other western entrepreneurs.


More exciting news for the fourth edition of China Start is a partnership with China’s national broadcaster, CCTV. Participants will be interviewed by CCTV during the program and a special episode will be aired on national TV to millions of Chinese TV viewers.


China Start has truly opened the doors for the world’s most forward-thinking entrepreneurs, allowing them to gain a first-hand experience of China’s vast and exciting market. We had great time learning about China, visiting companies such as Alibaba, Tencent, Fosun Group, 3nod etc., meeting business partners and investors.


The fourth edition of the programme is scheduled to take place from 4-8 June 2018. Taking place at CKGSB’s Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen campuses, this programme will also allow participants to visit successful businesses including China’s Silicon Valley in Shenzhen and Beijing. This will help them develop their China network and meet active investors, as well as give a live pitch to international institutional and angel investors, and have the opportunity to visit global conglomerates Fosun, Baidu, Tencent, 3nod, and others.

Bo oversees CKGSB’s European office in London, whose goal is to help European businesses to understand China and do business successfully in this dynamic market. His primary responsibilities are elite network management and conference speaking throughout Europe. Bo’s global professional experience has given him a unique perspective on China-West relations. He has a strong background in both global business and executive education, having led divisions at Fortune 500 companies including Monsanto, Cargill, Pfizer, Wrigley and Mars. He has also taught Executive MBA and MBA programs at top global business schools including MIT, NYU, INSEAD, HKUST and Tsinghua University. His expertise covers innovation, leadership, management, and marketing & sales.

Dr Li Wei is Professor of Economics, Director of the Case Center and Director of the China Economy and Sustainable Development Center at CKGSB. He formerly served as a professor at the Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia. Before that, he was a research associate at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Studies and taught at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.


Dr. Li's research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and the Journal of Comparative Economics. He wrote Investing in Emerging Markets, published by the CFA Institute (formerly the Association for Investment Management and Research). His research insights have featured in Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and CNN.



Li Yang

Associate Professor of Marketing

PhD, Columbia Business School


Dr Li received his PhD from Columbia Business School and taught undergraduate and MBA classes before returning to China. His research focuses on big data marketing analytics, with emphasis on pricing, consumer choice, and competitive strategy. Professor Li has published in leading academic journals such as Management Science and Journal of Marketing Research. At CKGSB, Dr Li teaches marketing management, marketing research, managerial statistics for MBAs and big data marketing, internet marketing for Executive Education. Before switching to business studies, Dr. Li earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics science from Peking University, a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Columbia University, and worked for the United Nations in New York. He has consulted for Tencent, Baidu and Yonghui Groups, and holds a US patent.


Participants will have the opportunity to learn from CKGSB’s world-class faculty and benefit from the rich experience of industry practioners. The programme provides the foundations for participants to immerse themselves in what it truly takes to operate a successful start-up in China.
